Dler’s story

Dler originates from Iraq. He came to Greece on foot through Turkey, when he was 17 years old. After moving to several places in Greece, he finally registered to Thermopyles’ open accommodation site for migrants and refugees. While in Greece, he learnt English and German through a lot of self-motivation and a lot of help.

His ambition is to go to the Netherlands because his uncle and most of his relatives are there. His dream is to become an engineer, and this is what he wants to study in the Netherlands. Moving to the Netherlands will be like a dream coming true for Dler. He says that he will miss his friends and all the people that he met in Greece, especially IOM’s personnel who stood by him every day.

“I believe that a dream never fades out when there is hope,” he adds.
