The MAX Diversity Film Festival reaches the last stage of the competition!
Watch & Vote for the finalists chosen by the festival jury, get to know all the preselected films and vote for your favourite. The winners will be announced at the Online Award Ceremony on November 5th
After 3 months of submissions, with a total of 477 films from 82 countries received, the 10 members of The MAX Diversity Film Festival (MDFF) jury have selected 18 films to be the finalists of their respective categories. The thorough evaluation undertaken during the month of September took into account criteria such as originality, plot, performance, dialogue or music, but also the entertainment value and the diversity awareness message evoked by the films. A special category has been created for those films that passed the first preselection but that did not classify as finalists of a category. A total of 68 films will compete for the Audience Award!
Economic, social, political or environmental issues can be the main push factors to move to another country. But behind those macro-factors, there are always personal stories: stories of human beings taking risks and decisions, encountering different barriers and opportunities, leaving behind other experiences and starting a new life in a new place. We hear stories from people trying to cross a border to save their lives, or the adaptation, change, nostalgia and memories experienced overtime after leaving the home country, to how the migration journey can make one feel like a stranger when returning to the place of origin. The films selected by the MDFF portray the very heterogeneous realities experienced by people on the move around the globe.
Now is the time to hear the public’s opinion. To crown our winners we need you! You can access and enjoy all the finalists and preselected films available online
The MDFF is an opportunity to celebrate diversity in Europe, to see previews of films or a selection of films little known to the public, and, through storytelling, to contribute to the creation of an evidence-based debate and narrative about migration. We want to enhance the representation of Europe’s cultural and ethnic minorities in the societies in which they live and to counterbalance the lack of visibility migrant people often have in the public sphere.
