The Polish DDF, hosted by Polish Migration Forum, was composed of two online events.
The first event, How to teach and integrate multilingual students in distance? took place on the 16th of April 2020.
At this event, there were discussed methods of work (also remote) with a group of linguistically and culturally diverse students, emphasizing the practice and the educational opportunities created by linguistic diversity at school. Participants also had the chance to learn about the WISE education model – supporting integration and at the same time enabling the implementation of the core school curriculum. They learned how to use this model in remote education. At the same time, they also got access to a number of ready-made educational materials based on the discussed model.
The second event, Integration without violence. Counteracting discrimination against students from migration backgrounds, took place online a month later on 15.05.2020.
This DDF was designed for teachers working at schools. Its purpose was to strengthen teachers’ competence in identifying symptoms and effects of peer violence, hate speech, discrimination at school, as well as the ability to respond effectively to it and prevent it by building positive relationships in the group. In the end, all those skills lead to a positive integration of children from migration backgrounds at their schools.
